Captain Arch Bracher has dedicated his life to the world of fishing. Most will tell you “When he’s not fishing for a living, he’s fishing for fun” which is hardly an understatement. Earning his first win in a fishing tournament before he reached the age of ten, the pursuit of the elusive fish continued as a lifelong passion and career.  He and his twin brother Pat Bracher have spent their entire lives fishing.

As a young man, Arch mated with several of the finest captains in the industry including Steve Richardson on the Bob-Kat and Chip Shafer of the Temptress whose experience and knowledge has influenced the success Arch extends as a captain to his charters today.

Captain Arch Bracher began his owner/captain career in 1990. In 2000 he continued improving the quality of his customers experience by having a 56 foot, Paul Mann sport fisher custom built. Captain Arch Bracher has fished the Outer Banks for more than thirty years and is one of the most successful renowned sportfishing captains in the industry. He has set new standards in this industry and has shaped modern fishing tactics used by captains and mates today.

Arch, the Pelican, crew and guests are consistent tournament winners with a key illustration being his winning of The Master’s Sailfish Tournament in 1994 (twice), 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and the 2006 (twice) Pirate’s Cove Tournament. The tournament success continues to this day.

In addition, he is consistently at the top of the annual billfish count at his port of call, Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, while at the wheel of the “Pelican”.

His professionalism and work ethic are of great magnitude. He’s a dedicated angler who practices conservation and actively participates in tagging programs. Providing a rewarding catch and a memorable experience for his charters is his top priority.
