Here are some helpful information and frequently asked questions you may find useful to plan your upcoming trip with us.

  • RATES & RESERVATIONS

    • The most convenient and quickest way to reserve your fishing charter is to book directly through our availability page. This links you to the Oregon Inlet Fishing Centers’ secure Reservations System.
    • Book directly with us at 252-441-3197 or email arch@fishthepelican.com.
    • Our rate is $2000, full day charter only, and a 50% deposit of $1000 is required to reserve the date.
    • Deposit must be received to confirm your reservation.
    • Balance due upon completion of trip.
    • Payment by check can be mailed to Arch Bracher, 7809 North Shore Road, Nags Head, NC 27959. Please include your dates in the memo section of check.
    • The mate works hard to ensure you have a safe and successful fishing experience. Customary gratuity is 15-20% of the charter rate. All gratuity is greatly appreciated.
    • Fish cleaning and processing services are available at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. approximate cost for this service is $.35 cents per lb. undressed.
    • If you wish to share a charter on a random boat, contact the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center for a make-up charter.
  • CANCELLATION POLICY / INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS

    • All Cancellations or changes to your reservation must be done through the captain. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.
    • If we have inclement weather that prevents us from leaving the inlet, you have the option to roll your deposit over and reschedule or receive a refund.
    • Weather conditions and trip cancellation is determined solely by the captain.
    • Deposits are subject to forfeiture if trip is cancelled – *see cancellation policy*
  • ARRIVAL / RETURN

    • Please be at the boat ready to leave the dock by 5am unless captain says otherwise.
    • We ask all charters to touch base with us 48 hours in advance to confirm arrival time. 252-441-3197
    • Return to the dock is generally between 4 – 5pm
  • WHERE TO PARK

    When you take a right to go to marina, make your immediate left, (if you end up at small boat ramp you’ve missed the immediate left). After your immediate left stay on the east side (left side) and we are six boats down.

  • WHAT TO BRING

    • What you want to eat and drink. Typically our customers bring their own cooler that includes snacks, beverages, lunch and ice.
    • Cooler to take home your catch (these can be left in your vehicle).
    • Sunscreen, sunglasses (preferably polarized), proper fishing shoes and layered clothing, foul weather gear, hat/visor, motion sickness medicine (if you are unsure of seasickness), and camera.
    • Keep in mind this can be is a 10-12 hour day so bring anything that will make you comfortable.
    • If you wish to use your own tackle, please contact Captain Arch Bracher to discuss beforehand.
  • FISHING LICENSE

    No individual fishing license is required. The Pelican has all necessary federal and NC fishing licenses.

  • PASSENGER CAPACITY

    U.S Coast Guard regulations allow us to carry six passengers not including captain and mate.
