Don’t forget October begins our Yellowfin Tuna Season!!

Congratulations to Dave Powers who caught his first grand slam today! A day full of action with a triple and four doubles keeping the rest of the crew busy!! After waiting several days for the seas to calm, it was a real treat to see all the action the Pelican experienced today. Great work to our crew today!

I just received a report from a reliable satellite source that the Pelican is having an INCREDIBLE DAY!! I will have the OFFICIAL report when I hear from him in a few hours! So exciting!!! Check back for the official numbers!!!

The Pelican was the only boat that ventured out of the Oregon Inlet fleet yesterday and it was a great pay off! You just can’t hold back my husband or Bill DeGraw and his crew! They’ve been fishing since they got here, my kind of guys!! Now to the good stuff…they saw a good number of billfish, most importantly they released a nice 350 plus lb Blue Marlin and two White Marlin!! This was a great day for yesterday. Arch said the sea conditions weren’t bad at all considering what was forecasted. Speaking of..we’ve got crazy weather heading our way, but you just never know about these storms and what is REALLY going to happen. Arch is super at making those decisions and staying on top of it. We’re looking forward to excellent fishing after the “storm” passes over.

On another note, remember the fantastic Tuna fishing we had this spring and July?? Fall Tuna fishing in October and November are fast approaching and dates are being reserved, particularly weekends!! So if you need a weekend, you better get busy and Book Your Date!!! Keep in mind too, if fishing is off the hook, weekends will be busy offshore with private boats. Contact us and I’ll get you set up. Hope to see you at the dock!

Our Marlin season has been consistent with good billfish releases everyday. The Marlin are definitely here in good numbers! I’d love to say it’s been so fantastic we have to replace the riggers from the weight of the flags flying, but then the superstitious fisherman side of me doesn’t want to jinx it. Kidding aside,  with Capt. Arch and Lee in charge, rest assure, the highest standards are in command. This mentality is great for you, bad for the fish and that’s the kind of boat you always want to be on.

Unless weather becomes an issue as we look ahead, there isn’t anything that could slow the fleet down through September. It’s been very good fishing for the Pelican all year!!

Post tournament week, things are going very well and great weather to top it off! Congratulations to the charters we’ve had the past several days! We’re looking forward to flying more flags!

A great day of action for the Pelican crew today! We started out with a Blue Marlin bite five minutes after we set out this morning and the fun just continued throughout the day! Great weather, great fishing and a lot of action made for a day we all look forward to. Congratulations to Rob Kurz and his fellow anglers on their first Grand Slam, we’re excited to have been part of such a memorable accomplishment. Nice work!!

What an incredible day!! Out of over 90 participating boats, Our niece Emily Bracher won the Alice Kelly Junior Angler Award today!!  She released her first Blue Marlin and a White Marlin!! Aunt Summer released the Sailfish for a GRAND SLAM! This tough little lady at twelve years old, handled the rough seas and these fish like a true champion! Congratulations Emily and team Pelican!

Three Blues, Four Whites and a Sail over the last few days for the Pelican crew. Today there were a lot of Blue Marlin seen by the fleet and the White Marlin bite has been decent. As we get further into the season, I think we have a great chance of seeing more. It’s looking pretty good so far.

The Pelican headed out in search of Marlin yesterday and started out with one slamming the mackerel! Arch felt like it was a white but it never came back around. A little later they missed a white but only to have a double header blue marlin run! Successful releases of both! Can you imagine catching two Blue Marlin at the same time? Awesome! Exciting! I can’t wait to hear what happens today!!
